Cooking

Cooking is no rocket science. A right bent of mind can do wonders to one’s health and purse as well. A combination of pleasant mood, good feelings, little patience and very little imagination will always give the best results which ever recipe one follows. Even for someone who does cooking everyday all the above said factors are very important along with time and motivation. Actually speaking it is very easy to manage cooking time. In fact the less time you spend in the kitchen the less tired you come out of it on a regular basis. The more casual you work in the kitchen the tastier the food will be. This is my personal experience. Cooking in fact should help you de stress than make you feel tensed whether it is done first thing in the morning or the later in the evening.

Today’s world is tilted more towards presentation. So along with taste of a dish/delicacy, its presentation also carries great importance. It is but natural that anything should be appealing to the eye first. Even babies/toddlers are very particular about what they eat. For instance a kid cannot readily appreciate the look of a mashed banana which looks slimy as it slowly starts getting discolored.

Talking of how to choose the right stuff, the vegetables we buy should be fresh and also free of harmful chemicals. If one can get organic stuff, it would be ideal. While choosing the vegetables basic requirement one could look for is tender and free of worms vegetables. Also, one should take care of the timing, say, how long a vegetable can be stored in the fridge because even in the fridge if u leave them for long they will rot or lose the nutrients. During winter months we can afford to leave them in open baskets.

Vegetables are of  different varieties.
All  gourd vegetables like bottle gourd, snake gourd, bitter gourd, ridge gourd, two varieties of pumpkins-white and yellow, fruit vegetables like brinjal, lady's finger, tomato, cucumber, different varieties of beans like double beans, french beans, string beans, all these  are very light on stomach and healthy on heart, so good for all.
All the varieties of root vegetables  like carrots, beetroot, radish, potato, yam are full of starch and a little heavy on the stomach, not so good for elderly and convulsing people.
All leafy and flowery vegetables like lettuce, cabbage-white and red, cauliflower, broccoli are rich in vitamins but should be consumed in moderation.
Green leafy vegetables like spinach, fenugreek and other locally available varieties are a must for the much needed fibre contents of a nutritious meal.
Fresh green herbs like bay leaf, oregano, celery, parsley, coriander, mint, basil, fennel, garlic, ginger, all these are taste enhancers and also act as digestives.
All peppers like capsicum, bell peppers-red and yellow, green and red chillies also have vitamins and can be used as per the taste requirements.

So, with so much of variety in vegetables one can safely be a vegetarian and maintain a healthy and also strong body.
